About SAVAE

Building a better future
for people and the planet.

SAVAE is a voluntary environmental and development organization founded by individuals concerned about continued environmental degradation across South Asia.

Environmental issues affect communities throughout South Asia. SAVAE works not only to create widespread environmental awareness, but also to bring environmental concerns to governments, policymakers and institutions in search of practical solutions.

SAVAE focuses strongly on youth development — with emphasis on the relationship between ecology and economy, environmental conservation, sustainable development, peace, and the meaningful participation of young people in decision-making.

"Environmental concerns are not abstract — they are carried to the people and institutions who can act on them."

From awareness to action.

Our approach moves communities and institutions through three connected stages.

01

Awareness

Building environmental knowledge among communities and young people across South Asia.

02

Participation

Creating opportunities for youth, volunteers and communities to take part in environmental initiatives and decision-making.

03

Policy & Action

Taking environmental concerns to governments, policymakers and relevant institutions to encourage practical solutions.

Youth & People

Young people are at the heart of SAVAE.

The Board consists of four members, predominantly in their mid-thirties, while the ground team is predominantly in its mid-twenties. SAVAE draws on a large volunteer base made up mainly of young people.

Board members involve team members and volunteers directly in programmatic decisions — keeping the organization close to the communities it works with.
